Lam Akol Ajawin

Dr Lam Akol Ajawin was born on 15 July 1950 and had his earlier education in Sudan culminating in the University of Khartoum which awarded him a BSc (Eng) first Class degree 1975. After graduation, he was appointed a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Chemical Engineering and won a scholarship in 1976 to study for an MEng degree in Petroleum Engineering at Heriot- Watt University, Edinburgh, which he completed in November 1977. Thereafter, he joined the Department of Chemical Engineering, Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London to pursue research for PhD in solvent extraction. He completed the research and was awarded a PhD from the University of London as well as a D.I.C (Diploma of Membership to the Imperial College) by the City and Guilds of London in 1980. He then went back to Sudan where he was appointed Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Dr Lam Akol was a part-time Lecturer in the Department of Science and Technology, University of Gezira, which was then just starting between 1982 to 1984. He continued teaching separation processes until 1986 when he left Sudan because of the civil war then. He resumed teaching again in 2022 teaching Mass Transfer Fundamentals. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors, Port Sudan Refinery, 1985 – 1986.
Dr Lam Akol Ajawin has published several scientific papers. He also published several books but not in the field of engineering.
